Prof. Fatih \u0130nci Publishes Research on Drug Resistance in Cancer Cells in ACS Measurement Science Au"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bilkent University National Nanotechnology Research Center\u2019s (UNAM) Assoc. Prof. Fatih \u0130nci has published his research entitled \u201cFluid Shear Stress Modulates Epithelial\u2013Mesenchymal Transition and Drug Resistance in 3D Cancer Models\u201d in <em>ACS Measurement Science Au<\/em>. The research originated from the MSc thesis of Eyl\u00fcl G\u00fcl\u015fen Y\u0131lmaz, who completed her MSc in Materials Science and Nanotechnology (MSN) at UNAM, Bilkent University, under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. \u0130nci and is currently pursuing her PhD.<\/p>\n<p>Assoc. Prof. \u0130nci and his research team developed an innovative three-dimensional tumor model to investigate how cancer cells behave and respond to anticancer drugs under conditions that closely resemble those found in the human body. Using a system that mimics the physical forces exerted on cells by fluid flow in the body, the researchers demonstrated significant changes in the characteristics of breast cancer cells and their responses to drug treatment. The study revealed that fluid flow influences cancer cell behavior and biological processes associated with drug resistance, while conventional laboratory models fail to adequately capture these changes.
