The Art Of Mask Designing

Tanner L-Edit or Layout Editor is a computer-aided design (CAD) tool specific for designing photo-masks to be used in micro/nano fabrication processes. The program houses sophisticated functions like all angles, font generator, C++ macros, python scripting, Boolean operations, design rule checker, netlist driven layout and LVS. The workshop will initiate with a brief introduction to the software. People with little to no experience at mask designing can join the workshop. During the workshop, following points will be addressed:

  • Introducing to Mask Designing
  • Basic Sketching Tools
  • Boolean Functions
  • Usage of Cells and Instances
  • Design Rule Check (DRC)

About The Speaker

Talha Masood Khan received his B.Sc. degree in 2011 in Electronics Engineering Department at BZU Multan, Pakistan. Then, he moved to National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, Pakistan, and obtained his M.E. degree with distinction in 2013 in Electrical Engineering. Following this, in 2013 he joined PIET, Multan, Pakistan, as a Lecturer at Department of Electrical Engineering. Since 2014, he has been pursuing his Ph.D. studies in the Materials Science and Nanotechnology Program at UNAM, Bilkent University. He works with Dr. Hayrettin Köymen on Acoustics and Electromechanical systems (MEMS) with biomedical applications.
