On Friday, May 8, 2026, the 12th annual NanoDay event took place at the Bilkent University National Nanotechnology Research Center (UNAM), drawing a remarkable attendance of over 250 participants.<\/p>\n

The NanoArt competition strives to recognize images captured at the nanometer scale through innovative imaging techniques and cutting-edge technologies taken by students from diverse fields. Undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students are invited to partake in the NanoArt contest by submitting images showcasing intricate details measuring below 1,000nm that were observed and recorded within laboratory settings using material characterization devices such as transmission electron, confocal, or atomic force microscopes.<\/p>\n

G\u00f6ktan Y\u0131lmaz won first place in this year\u2019s NanoArt competition with his artwork entitled \u201cNanomedusa.\u201d Faruk Aksoy\u2019s \u201cVision at a Nanoscale\u201d and the collaborative work \u201cNano-Honeycomb\u201d by Iqra Munir and Faruk Aksoy were selected as runner-up entries.<\/p>\n

Participation in the NanoPoster competition, where students present posters showcasing their research and development projects, is limited to Bilkent students conducting their research at UNAM. Iqra Munir claimed first place in the competition with her outstanding entry, and Emine Ye\u011fin and Fadel Helweh tied for second place.<\/p>\n

The annual NanoDay event organized by UNAM gathers renowned figures from the global scientific community, uniting scientists, researchers, students, and industry professionals from Turkey and beyond. This event goes beyond being a platform for sharing state-of-the-art research and promoting knowledge exchange; it also facilitates meaningful social interactions. Additionally, the conference includes the NanoArt and NanoPoster competitions and exhibition that invite students from Bilkent University as well as students from other institutions to showcase their research and artistic views.<\/p>\n
