Prof. Durgun, who completed his PhD in the Department of Physics and is now at the Institute of Materials Science and Nanotechnology (UNAM), was chosen for the honor in recognition of his scientific leadership at UNAM.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Dr. G\u00fczelt\u00fcrk, a 2016 PhD graduate of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering who worked at UNAM under the supervision of Professor Hilmi Volkan Demir during his doctoral studies and is currently doing his postdoctoral studies at Stanford University in the US, was selected for his achievements in the area of scientific and technical progress during his PhD work at Bilkent.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Organized by the Turkish branch of Junior Chamber International (JCI), TOYP Turkey is part of JCI\u2019s \u201cTen Outstanding Young Persons of the World\u201d (TOYP) program, which serves to recognize individuals who excel in their chosen fields and exemplify the best attributes of the world\u2019s young people.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The TOYP Turkey awards are presented annually, in 10 different categories, to Turkish citizens between the ages of 18 and 40. This year\u2019s ceremony, at which Dr. Durgun and Dr. G\u00fczelt\u00fcrk received their awards, took place on November 24 in \u0130stanbul, at Akatlar K\u00fclt\u00fcr Merkezi.<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bilkent alumni Dr. Engin Durgun and Dr. Burak G\u00fczelt\u00fcrk have been named as two of this year\u2019s \u201cTen Outstanding Young Persons of Turkey.\u201d Asst.
