After its initial release by Cambridge University Press, the world&#8217;s oldest and currently second largest publishing house, the book was translated into Chinese by the <strong>Chinese Academy of Sciences<\/strong> under the copyright agreement with the Cambridge. The Chinese translation will now be republished by <strong>Beijing Institute of Technology Press<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Applied Nanophotonics<\/em> is composed of twelve chapters and provides a comprehensive and easily understandable introduction to the fundamental principles, technologies, and applications of nanophotonics. The textbook presents a clear explanation of crucial physical phenomena, including quantum confinement in semiconductors, light confinement in metal and dielectric nanostructures, and wave coupling in nanostructures. Moreover, it illustrates how these concepts find practical applications in light sources, lasers, photonic circuitry, and photovoltaic systems. Readers will develop an intuitive understanding of the commercial applications of nanophotonic components in both state-of-the-art and next-generation devices while also gaining valuable insights into the challenges encountered within this field of study. While covering the essentials of semiconductor photonics, optical material properties, and light propagation, the book also delves into emerging fields such as colloidal nanocrystal optoelectronics, Si-based photonics, nanoplasmonics, and bioinspired optics.
