Prof. Fatih \u0130nci&#8217;s Research Published in Trends in Biotechnology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bilkent University National Nanotechnology Research Center\u2019s (UNAM) Asst. Prof. Fatih \u0130nci, along with Eyl\u00fcl G\u00fcl\u015fen Y\u0131lmaz and Nedim Hac\u0131osmano\u011flu from his team, have recently published their research entitled \u201cRevolutionizing IBD Research with On-Chip Models of Disease Modeling and Drug Screening\u201d in <em>Trends in Biotechnology<\/em>. This collaborative work was conducted in partnership with Prof. Bahtiyar Y\u0131lmaz along with PhD student Sebastian Bruno Ulrich Jordi from Maurice M\u00fcller Laboratories in the Department for Biomedical Research at the University of Bern in Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p>This study represents a significant innovation in the field of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) research. Developed as an alternative to traditional animal models, the organ-on-a-chip technology simulates the microscopic interactions between intestinal cells and microbes, providing a more realistic model of the intestinal ecosystem. Using 3D intestinal tissue models, the researchers explored cellular healing processes and inflammatory responses, compiling studies that contribute to a deeper understanding of gut diseases.
