Prof. Engin Durgun and supported by the Marie Sk\u0142odowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) program. Titled &#8220;Computational Investigation of Degradation Processes in Historical Paintings Using DFT and AI (REPAINT),&#8221; the project has secured funding from MSCA, one of the European Union\u2019s most prestigious grants supporting doctoral and postdoctoral researchers.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Mayda and Assoc. Prof. Durgun\u2019s project aims to understand pigment degradation in historical artwork by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) with density functional theory (DFT). By thoroughly examining the impact of environmental factors on paintings, REPAINT seeks to develop innovative solutions for the preservation of cultural heritage. Through computational modeling and AI-driven analysis, the project will predict the chemical changes pigments undergo over time and ultimately contribute to the long-term conservation of art.<\/p>\n<p>Marie Sk\u0142odowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) is a distinguished funding program under the European Union\u2019s Horizon Europe framework that provides international mobility and career development support for researchers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bilkent University\u2019s National Nanotechnology Research Center (UNAM) has had recent success with the \u201cREPAINT\u201d project led by Dr. Selma Mayda ve Assoc.
