{"id":9791,"date":"2025-05-09T15:43:58","date_gmt":"2025-05-09T12:43:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unam.bilkent.edu.tr\/en\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=9791"},"modified":"2025-05-12T08:45:50","modified_gmt":"2025-05-12T05:45:50","slug":"celebrating-100-years-of-quantum-science-at-unam","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/unam.bilkent.edu.tr\/en\/event\/celebrating-100-years-of-quantum-science-at-unam\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebrating 100 Years of Quantum Science at UNAM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bilkent University&#8217; National Nanotechnology Research Center (UNAM) is hosting \u201cBilkent UNAM \u2013 Quantum Day\u201d as part of a global scientific initiative to honor the 100-year legacy of quantum science.<\/p>\n<p>During the event held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, Chair of the Department of Physics at Bilkent University Prof. Ceyhun Bulutay, Assoc. Prof. Serkan Ate\u015f from \u0130zmir Institute of Technology, and Asst. Prof. \u0130brahim Sarpkaya from UNAM will deliver talks on the fundamentals and future directions of quantum technologies.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, UNAM is one of the stops of QuanTour\u2014a scientific journey across Europe initiated by the Quantum 2025 initiative under the United Nations and UNESCO\u2019s designation of 2025 as the \u201cInternational Year of Quantum Science and Technology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As part of QuanTour, a quantum light source developed by Dr. Tobias Heindel\u2019s research group at the Technical University of Berlin is traveling to select laboratories across more than 12 countries in Europe, including the prestigious Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge.<\/p>\n<p>The project aims to raise awareness in fields such as quantum optics, semiconductor physics, photonic quantum technologies, and quantum metrology, while also promoting collaboration and knowledge exchange among researchers. Its second stop in Turkey, after \u0130zmir Institute of Technology (\u0130YTE), is the Quantum Photonics Laboratory of Asst. Prof. \u0130brahim Sarpkaya at Bilkent University UNAM.<\/p>\n<p>Asst.
