It enables precision machining on silicon, germanium, brass, copper, stainless steel, aluminum, zinc selenide, acrylic and many similar materials with surface roughness values below 3 nanometers. The machine has a chuck with an air bearing system with a 2 nanometer runout value and an air bearing spindle with a 2 nanometer runout value. It offers suitable methods for the production of many parts with precise surface and geometric forms, especially for the production of lenses and lens molds. The machine has 5 axes (x, y, z, c, b) and is capable of single point diamond turning and micro milling. The device allows the ability to complete the workpiece with a single device without the need for any other process such as grinding, polishing, lapping to the final geometry and final surface roughness values.
