Graduate students, undergraduate students or post-doctoral researchers from any institution can join the contest.
\n2. Each participant can only submit one image. Images should be taken by a material characterization instruments (e.g. Transmission Electron Microscope, Confocal Microscope or Atomic Force Microscope etc.), and sub-1000 nm should be resolved.
\n3. The image must be captured by you and should not have any copyright limitations (if the image is part of a published paper, copyright permission should be obtained by the author from the relevant journal).
\n4. Please see the sample image for the required components of a proper submission.
\n5. The image size cannot exceed 32 MB, and only the pictures formatted with the template are accepted. The image must be larger than 1 megapixels (i.e. 1024\u00d71024 pixel).
\n6. Digital alterations such as coloring, tinting, and the inclusion of computer-generated graphics are permitted. However, the original image must be captured by an imaging tool and included in the template.
\n7. The submitted images will be evaluated by UNAM PIs, and 20 finalist images will be displayed as posters during Nanoday 2026.
\n8. The best image and two runner-ups will be awarded gift cards.
\n9. The contestant must be physically present to collect the award. If the contestant is not present, the award will be given to the spare runner-ups.
\n10. Submitted images can be used by UNAM on printed and online media with credentials.
\n11. By submitting an image to the contest, you agree to all the contest rules.
\n12. The deadline to join the contest is 2026, May 05, Tuesday, 11:45 PM[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_separator][vc_column_text]We know that everyone wonders how the winners are selected among such beautiful works of NanoArts. So here are the details of the selection process for this exciting event:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. NanoArt submissions that violate the contest rules are eliminated.
\nHere is an example:
\na. Image contains nanometer-sized features, but the scale bar is larger than several micrometers.
\nb. Image has the same scale bar as in a., but no features in the nanometer range are resolvable.
\nThen image a is kept, and b is eliminated.
\n2. All images are uploaded to an online voting webpage, and every UNAM PI (including associates) is provided with a unique code to vote once.
\n3. Every PI chose their first, second, and third favorites.
\n4. The voting software assigns 10 points to the first, 5 points to the second, and 1 point to the third favorite. The reason for disproportionate valuing is to prevent everyone’s second choice from being the winner, which is a very likely case if values were 3, 2, 1 for the first, second, and third, respectively.
\n5. After all the votes are collected, we determine the top scorer and the runner-ups, as well as substitutes, in case the award winners don’t show up.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1679489065494{border-radius: 1px !important;}”][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n
