Bilkent University Institute of World Systems, Economies and Strategic Research (DSEE) founding director and National Nanotechnology Research Center (UNAM) executive board member Orhan Güvenen has been awarded the Ramamoorthy & Yeh Transdisciplinary Distinguished Achievement Award by the Academy of Transdisciplinary Learning & Advanced Studies. Prof. Güvenen was one of two individuals to receive the award in 2016, the other being Bosheng Zhou, founder and honorary dean of the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astrophysics.
The award is given “in recognition of distinguished and meritorious achievement in transdisciplinary research as evidenced by use of transdisciplinary creative and innovative methods in solving complex problems and outstanding leadership in transdisciplinary education and its activities.”
The Academy, founded in 2000, is a nonprofit organization that provides services to universities around the world. Its main missions are: providing critical services for transdisciplinary education and research; supporting social, environmental, economic and ethical sustainable development throughout the world; promoting global information exchange through innovative publishing; and providing an“open laboratory” for the “global mind.”
