Bilkent University National Nanotechnology and Research Center (UNAM) was established as a “national lab” in 2007 to develop international scientific and technological excellence in disciplines such as material sciences and engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, and molecular biology, that have been subsumed under nanoscience and nanotechnology. Later, UNAM became one of the first four National Research Centers, receiving qualification on August 16, 2017, within the scope of the Law No. 6550 on the Support of Research Infrastructures. In today’s world where the concepts of R&D and innovation are the driving force for economies and have strategic importance, with our “research infrastructure” identity which we have acquired as part of the Law No. 6550 on the Support of Research Infrastructures as Bilkent University UNAM, we aim to contribute Turkey’s competetiveness in the fields of science, technology and innovation; create not only economic but also social benefit; with the strength of university-industry cooperation, we also aim to produce high quality knowledge, develop new technologies and contribute to productization. We work for the development of Turkey with our “national lab” identity in many phases, including infrastructure, education, continuous consultancy, intellectual and industrial protection, commercialization and globalization, in order to increase the potential, quality and functionality of the technology developed or produced through the stages of theory, productization, commercialization and internationalization.
