National Nanotechnology Research Center (UNAM) leads internationally competitive R&D projects in the fields of nanoscience/nanotechnology, biotechnology/nanobiotechnology, materials science/engineering, and related research domains in a transdisciplinary ecosystem led by qualified human resources and management that roots its ethos in reason and knowledge at the campus of Bilkent University, the founding Higher Education Institution. With an aim to generate impactful and useful knowledge under the roof of the identity as a national laboratory and with a strong focus on enabling quality science, social benefits, and global innovation, UNAM works to create a competitive R&D capability to Turkey, cutting-edge science on a global scale, and high value-added technologies.
Bilkent University UNAM was established in 2007 as a National Laboratory in Bilkent University and later, it became one of the first four National Research Centers in Turkey, receiving qualification on August 16, 2017, within the scope of the Law No. 6550 on the Support of Research Infrastructures. With its distinguished academic staff and world-class research infrastructure, with a total of over 400 instruments, it has a unique open laboratory approach that provides a vibrant R&D environment in a transdisciplinary ecosystem for more than 600 researchers to conduct top-tier scientific studies. UNAM serves as a national laboratory to over 2,400 users from academia and other industries. To date, UNAM has contributed to the commercialization of many high-tech products with 150+ international and national patent registrations, 200+ international and national active patent applications, and 1,700+ citations in the Science Citation Index, and 300+ journal articles published in the Nature Index.
Materials Science and Nanotechnology (MSN) Graduate Program is particularly suitable for students who are graduates of Materials Science and Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Electrical and Electric and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and want to pursue careers in nanoscience and nanotechnology.
At UNAM, with our focus on SCIENCE, SOCIAL BENEFIT, INNOVATION and our “national lab” identity, we work to produce new development, added value, qualified workforce and international level of knowledge and technology that will be beneficial to the world and humanity.
