Bilkent University UNAM’s annual NanoDay was held on Thursday, May 12 this year with a participation of more than 160 people. The event hosted speakers who are globally pioneering names in nanoscience, nanotechnology, biotechnology, bionanotechnology, and material science as they shared the exciting and latest developments in their fields. The Nanoart Competition was also held and awarded a winner for the best nano-scale image.
This year, UNAM hosted two important names in their respective fields at NanoDay as a way to listen to the latest scientific development from different perspectives. Prof. Oliver Hayden from the Technical University of Munich gave a speech entitled “Developing Clinically-Relevant In vitro Diagnostics,” and Prof. Giulia Galli from the University of Chicago gave a speech entitled “Complex Materials From First Principles: From Sustainable Energy Sources to Quantum Information Science.”
The exciting day began with an exhibition and poster presentations from student groups. Nanoday then continued with speeches from Prof. Oliver Hayden and Prof. Giulia Galli. After the announcement of the winner of the NanoArt competition, the day was complete with an open house and an open-air social event.
