Asst. Prof. Halil İbrahim Okur, a faculty member in Bilkent University Department of Chemistry and a researcher at the Bilkent University National Nanotechnology Research Center (UNAM), has received the 2023 Turkey Science Academy – Outstanding Young Scientist (TÜBA-GEBİP) Award. The main focus of Asst. Prof. Okur’s research is to elucidate chemical processes occurring at biological surfaces by probing the adjacent interfacial water molecules using nonlinear optical techniques.
The TÜBA-GEBİP Award is granted annually to support distinguished scientists under the age of 40 who conduct high-quality scientific studies and have developed their own research groups. The award also aims to encourage these young scientists to conduct their outstanding research specifically in Turkey. As of this year, a total of 610 scientists have been granted the TÜBA-GEBİP Award.
