Middle East Technical University’s (METU) Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering students visited Bilkent University National Nanotechnology Research Center (UNAM) on Thursday, December 5, 2024 as part of the Electron Microscopy in Materials Science course. They were accompanied by Prof. Dr. Y. Eren Kalay.
During their visit, the students explored UNAM’s cutting-edge infrastructure that drives advancements in scientific research and technology. In doing so, they gained insights into the capabilities of the Focused Ion Beam (FIB) microscope and toured UNAM’s extensive infrastructure, which includes more than 400 devices, 87 laboratories, and two cleanrooms spanning a total of 856 square meters. Additionally, they learned about Bilkent University UNAM’s Materials Science and Nanotechnology (MSN) Master’s and Ph.D. programs, which are designed to nurture future R&D leaders and scientists.
