Bilkent University National Nanotechnology Research Center’s (UNAM) Asst. Prof. Fatih İnci, in collaboration with Hacettepe University, has published his study entitled “Computational Studies for the Development of Extracellular Vesicle-Based Biosensors,” published in Biosensors and Bioelectronics.
The study examined the contribution of computational approaches to the development of biosensors for the detection of extracellular vesicles, which are among the most promising biomarkers for the early diagnosis and effective treatment of cancer and other diseases. The article discusses the role of methods such as molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulations, and density functional theory in enhancing biosensor performance to improve sensitivity, accuracy, and selectivity. The work also draws attention to the potential of quantum mechanics–based approaches, whose applications in this field remains limited, and highlights artificial intelligence–driven strategies as a key future direction for extracellular vesicle-based biosensor research.
