Bilkent University National Nanotechnology Research Center’s (UNAM) Asst. Prof. Fatih İnci’s research entitled “Revolutionizing IBD Research with on-chip Models of Disease Modeling and Drug Screening” has been featured on the cover of Trends in Biotechnology.
Through their article, Dr. Fatih İnci and Dr. Bahtiyar Yılmaz, and their teams denoted advanced microfluidic “organ-on-a-chip” platforms comprehensively that closely replicate the human intestinal microenvironment. These biomimetic models enable a more comprehensive understanding of the onset and progression of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), while also allowing for the rapid and accurate screening of therapeutic drug candidates.
These studies mark a significant step forward in the development of personalized treatment approaches and offers a reliable, ethical, and highly effective alternative for preclinical research.
