Bilkent University National Nanotechnology Research Center (UNAM) successfully hosted the third national gathering of Türkiye’s zebrafish research community on 29 November. The upcoming Zebrafish Workshop will bring together scientists who conduct research using the zebrafish model organism. Supported by the Zebrafish Research Association, this special event aims to strengthen knowledge exchange, collaboration, and scientific interaction among researchers across Türkiye by highlighting the powerful research opportunities offered by the zebrafish model.

The Scientific Committee of this year’s workshop included Dr. Ayça Arslan from UNAM—known for her work in developmental biology, neurodegenerative disease models, gene-editing technologies, and live-imaging-based studies—along with Prof. Dr. Pervin Dinçer from Hacettepe University, Prof. Dr. Güneş Özhan from İzmir Institute of Technology, and Asst. Prof. Fulya Yaylacıoğlu Tuncay from the University of Health Sciences, Gülhane Faculty of Medicine.

The workshop featured presentations by Prof. Dr. Özlen Konu and Dr. Ilgım Ardıç Avcı from Bilkent University; Prof. Dr. Saltuk Buğrahan Ceyhun from Atatürk University; Prof. Dr. Stefan Fuss from Boğaziçi University; Asst. Prof. Adil Seytanoğlu and Asst. Prof. Seniye Targen from Eastern Mediterranean University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. İsmail Uyanık and Instructor Ecem Kural Mangıt from Hacettepe University; Prof. Dr. Murat Özmen from İnönü University Environmental Toxicology Laboratory; Asst. Prof. Gülçin Çakan Akdoğan from İzmir Biomedicine and Genome Center; Asst. Prof. Nathalie Sonia Escande Beillard from Koç University; Prof. Dr. Ebru Işık Emekli from Marmara University; and Dr. Naz Şerifoğlu from the Marseille Institute of NeuroPhysiopathology.

Bringing together experts from diverse institutions, the workshop provided a dynamic platform for sharing unique research experiences and recent scientific findings related to zebrafish studies. The event contributed significantly to fostering a strong environment of scientific interaction and nationwide collaboration within Türkiye’s zebrafish research community.
