Bilkent University National Nanotechnology Research Center’s (UNAM) Asst. Prof. Hasan Yılmaz has been awarded the 2025 Research Incentive Award of the METU Prof. Dr. Mustafa N. Parlar Education and Research Foundation for his contributions to wavefront shaping, complex optical systems, and mesoscopic light transport. Among the 12 scientists recognized this year, four are affiliated with UNAM; in addition to Asst. Prof. Yılmaz, Asst. Prof. Mustafa Ordu, Asst. Prof. Talip Serkan Kasırga, and Asst. Prof. Gürkan Yeşilöz were also recipients of the award. Asst. Prof. Yılmaz is particularly known for his theoretical and experimental work on controlling light propagation in complex and disordered media, including transmission eigenchannels, the fundamental limits of wave control, and random-matrix-theory-based descriptions of optical systems, which bridge mesoscopic physics and photonics, offering broad relevance to modern optical science.
