Bilkent University National Nanotechnology Research Center’s (UNAM) Asst. Prof. Mustafa Ordu has received TÜBİTAK funding for the second time for a collaborative research project to be carried out with partners in Japan.

The project, which Asst. Prof. Ordu will conduct in collaboration with Prof. Yoshiaki Kanamori of Tohoku University in Japan, has been selected as one of five projects to receive support under the 2544 – TÜBİTAK–Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Bilateral Cooperation Program. Entitled “Innovative Manufacturing Approaches for the Development of Optical Components for Next-Generation Terahertz Communication Networks,” the project aims to develop optical components that are critical to next-generation terahertz (THz) wireless communication networks. In particular, the project will focus on innovative manufacturing techniques and advanced optical solutions to enhance system performance.

Asst. Prof. Mustafa Ordu previously received support under the same bilateral program in 2023, contributing to the strengthening of scientific collaboration between Türkiye and Japan. The earlier joint project, also conducted with Prof. Yoshiaki Kanamori of Tohoku University and titled “Development of Innovative Ultra-Low-Loss Microstructured Polymer Optical Fibers for Next-Generation Terahertz Wireless Communication,” was successfully completed.
