Bilkent University National Nanotechnology Research Center (UNAM) hosted the Science Girl Platform on Thursday, April 16, 2026. The group, consisting of undergraduate biology students from various universities, visited UNAM together with their mentors and had the opportunity to closely explore the innovative research environment.
During the visit, students explored the cutting-edge infrastructure of UNAM—comprising over 300 advanced technology devices, 87 laboratories, and two separate cleanrooms spanning a total of 856 square meters—and gained comprehensive insights into pioneering research in nanotechnology and materials science. The participants also met with female graduate student researchers pursuing their studies within the Materials Science and Nanotechnology (MSN) Master’s and Ph.D. programs designed to nurture future R&D leaders and scientists. They engaged in a sincere exchange about academic journeys, career planning, and shared areas of interest. This interaction provided participants with valuable perspectives on scientific career paths and offered them the opportunity to hear inspiring experiences firsthand.
The Science Girl Platform aims to support young women pursuing education in fundamental and life sciences in their scientific career journeys. Through mentorship, scholarships, training programs, and events, it seeks to strengthen their academic development and foster early engagement with the scientific ecosystem.
