Bilkent University National Nanotechnology Research Center’s (UNAM) Asst. Prof. Mustafa Ordu’s study on multifunctional magnetic soft fibers has been published in Advanced Fiber Materials.
Entitled “Multifunctional Magnetic Soft Fibers: A Platform for Wearable, Biomedical, and Soft Robotic Systems,” the study examines how flexible fibers that can be remotely controlled by magnetic fields are fabricated, what properties they offer, and how they can be used across different areas of application. The study highlights that these fibers can not only move and change shape, but can also integrate multiple functions, such as sensing and energy generation, within a single structure. The findings indicate that these multifunctional systems could contribute to the development of next-generation technologies that are more flexible, lightweight, and remotely controllable, with potential applications ranging from wearable technologies and biomedical devices to soft robotic systems.
