Asst. Prof. Serim Kayacan Ilday of UNAM has been awarded for this year’s ‘For Women in Science’ award, which is strived from the partnership of the L’Oréal Foundation and UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) to support and recognize accomplished women researchers, to encourage more young women to enter the profession and to assist them once their careers are in progress. She is awarded for her project to produce cost effective and highly efficient thin film solar cells from a complex, hierarchically self-assembled material that she discovered during her PhD (Nano Letters, 2016).
