Professor Hilmi Volkan Demir—director of Bilkent University UNAM and chair of the Materials Science and Nanotechnology Graduate Program—and his research team have published a scientific article on High External Quantum Efficiency Light-Emitting Diodes Enabled by Advanced Heterostructures of Type-II Nanoplatelets highlighted on the cover of ACS NANO.
In this study, Dr. Demir and his team focused on enhancing the performance of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) by developing nanoplatelets (NPLs) in type-II multi-crowned heterostructures that confine electrons and holes in different parts. This innovative approach involves the synthesis of a new class of quantum-engineered NPLs, essential to improving NPL-LED efficiency. Thanks to these high-performance NPLs, their external quantum efficient LEDs have become possible.
