The Billkent University National Nanotechnology Research Center (UNAM) hosted the “Singapore-Turkey Materials Science and Engineering Workshop” on June 5-6, 2024 where they welcomed numerous renowned scientists and speakers on the international stage in the field of materials science and engineering.
Thirty two prominent scientists from Bilkent University UNAM, National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Nanjing Tech, Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara University, Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Koç University, Abdullah Gül University (AGÜ), and Izmir Institute of Technology (IYTE) participated as speakers in the workshop.
During the second annual workshop, participants discussed the latest developments in materials science and engineering, facilitating knowledge and experience sharing among the approximately 300 participants, including academics, industry representatives, and students from twenty different universities and institutions.
The workshop commenced with opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Hilmi Volkan Demir, Director of Bilkent University UNAM and Luminous! Center of Excellence NTU Singapore , Prof. Barbaros Özyılmaz from the National University of Singapore, and Prof. Dr. Kürşat Aydoğan, Rector of Bilkent University. This was followed by the inauguration speech from the guest of honor, Singapore Ambassador Kok Li Peng.
On the first day of the event, presentations were delivered by Prof. Dr. Hilmi Volkan Demir (Bilkent UNAM & NTU), Prof. Barbaros Özyılmaz (NUS), Prof. Steve Cuong Dang (NTU), Prof. Shaffique Adam (NUS), Dr. Wonmi Ahn (Bilkent UNAM), Prof. Ahmet Avşar (NUS), Dr. Raşit Turan (ODTÜ), Dr. Bilge Baytekin (Bilkent), Zeyu Deng (NUS), Dr. Cüneyt Şahin (Bilkent UNAM), Dr. Urartu Şeker (Bilkent UNAM), Prof. Utkur Mirsaidov (NUS), and Dr. Seymur Jahangirov (Bilkent UNAM).
The second day featured presentations by Dr. Yeşim Moğulkoç (Ankara Ü.), Dr. T. Serkan Kasırga (Bilkent UNAM), Prof. Alexey Berdyugin (NUS), Burak Okan (Şişecam), Dr. Emrah Ünalan (ODTÜ), Assoc. Prof. Engin Durgun (Bilkent UNAM), Prof. Mustafa Eğinligil (Nanjing Tech.), Dr. Talha Erdem (AGÜ), Prof. Di Zhu (NUS), Hasan Şahin (İYTE), Mehmet Cengiz Onbaşlı (Koç Ü.), Tural Khudiyev (NUS), Evren Mutlugün (AGÜ), and Dr. Mehmet Yağmurcukardeş (IYTE).
