Prof. Dr. Hilmi Volkan Demir, Director of Bilkent University UNAM and head of the Department of Materials Science and Nanotechnology (MSN) Graduate Program, has once again been listed on Stanford University’s list of the world’s most influential scientists, ranking in both the career-long and single recent year impact categories. Similarly, Assoc. Prof. Engin Durgun, Asst. Prof. Seymur Jahangirov, and Asst. Prof. Fatih İnci from UNAM have also been included on the single recent year impact list due to their impactful international publications of their groundbreaking research in nanotechnology, materials science, and biosensors.
The Updated Science-wide Author Databases of Standardized Citation Indicators, compiled annually by Prof. John P.A. Ioannidis and his team at Stanford University, aim to bring together the world’s most influential scientists. This list is prepared by considering indicators including number of publications, citations, h-index, and hm-index. While the career-long metrics honor researchers who have consistently demonstrated exceptional performance over time, the single recent year metrics highlight researchers who have gained significant attention more recently. H-index is a metric representing the number of citations for a researcher’s most-cited publication. Hm-index is a metric that, by weighting citations, highlights a researcher’s more impactful works.
