UNAM, as the first national nanotechnology center and one of the first four National Research Centers of Turkey, receiving qualification within the scope of the Law No. 6550 on the Support of Research Infrastructures, has set its primary goal, with its focus on knowledge, innovation, and social benefits, to use every means available during the pandemic. Our center is taking its part in the grapple with Covid-19, the world’s primary agenda, with 9 different R&D projects, and making important contributions to at the national and international level. At the same time, UNAM continues to work on various scientific, academic, and other studies including with industrial collaborations in full spate.
Today, as Bilkent University UNAM, our work and our team are growing stronger whereby the synergy of our research institute identity and R&D infrastructure.
Being the recipient of 157 awards, 82 of which are national and 75 of which are international; being the “national laboratory” that has published the most in Nature Index journals within Turkey with 304 articles; having 264 master’s and doctoral graduates up to date, serving users as a national laboratory to more than 1,800 users, which include 114 industrial companies and 118 universities; the 24 startups that we’ve conduced to; and the fact that we contributed with a total of 122 patent registrations, 50 of which are national and 72 international are all indicators of our determination to achieve our goals.
I would like to express our gratitude to the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Ministry of National Education, Presidency Strategy and Budget Directorate, Higher Education Council – YÖK, Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey – TÜBİTAK, Presidency Education and Training Policies Board, Presidency Science Technology and Innovation Policies Board and to our University for their continuous support from the earliest days.
